Hello my Beautiful Fashionistas,
I hope you are all doing great,
2020 has been a very emotional and overwhelming year so far and after dealing with the Covid 19 pandemic for the past 3 months, the World is going through another Big Moment and no matter how unconfortable some people might feel about this topic, Racism and racial profiling have always existed and it is time for a Real Change.
One thing I love about blogging is that not only we get to share what we love but we also get to express how we feel. I truly believe that being authentic with our feelings is essential in this superficial World.
Finding the right words can be difficult, especially if you are a White person and I totally get it,
but if you care about others, you cannot stay silence.
We all have a unique voice and it is our responsability to make it count.
So today I would like us to get a little personal here, let’s talk real talk my friends !
As a Black woman and a Black entrepreneur I have experienced racism many time in my life but I never thought I needed to talk about it, because it was just the way things were and to be completely honest with you, the last thing I wanted was pity or empathy from others but this does not mean I was not deeply hurt every time it happened.
If you have not been physically attacked, don’t complain because it is not worth it and you are better than that.
This is how my parents raised me and I know it was for my own good.
I think We, People of colour, just learned to work twice harder to succeed and to do our best to stay away from trouble.
Today I think it was not necessary the best way and as a Mother, I pray for a better future for my child and every decision, every action I take is to make this possible.
Because after all, Being Black is all I have always been and will always be.
To all my non-Black friends out here who have been speaking loudly against racism for the past days, I see you, I respect you and I Thank you for your support. Continue to educate yourself, to get involved and to support diversity in the blogging World.
There is still so much work to be done and I sincerely hope that when BLACK LIVES MATTER will no more be trendy, when we will all get back to regular contents, YOU will still care because this is not a sprint, it is a marathon.
For those of you who don’t follow me on Instagram and would like to, I would be more than happy to connect with you :

Love your introspection on this post! I also hope it’s not a trend. That is my biggest fear. Another fear of mine are all these brands and celebrities donating when they have continuously appropriated and or have discriminatory workplace environments. It’s like their buying their way into black spaces.
We hope for the best.

I totally agree with you, it is more like they donate to say they did, with no real engagement to embrace change.
We will soon know what will come after riots !

“There is still so much work to be done.” Truly there is. As a fellow POC, I stand with you. Black lives matter, period.
Thank you Ellis 🙂 it’s time for Change!
II am preparing for the marathon my friend. Thank you for sharing your journey and I hope to continue to learn and support all POC. XO

Thank you Kathrine, I appreciate your motivation 🙂
I feel for you and the black community. I really hope that this sparks change and people are more aware that racism happens. Whenever I received racial comments it is so quick for people to respond with “You took it the wrong way” or “You’re overreacting.”. I’m not black, but I’m doing my best to educate myself. Sending you my love.

People who make those comments usually don’t understand why it hurts so much because they never question their own words and habits. it is all about education and every step counts ! Thank you Rach 🙂
I agree that this is a marathon, not a sprint! I feel like so many people are jumping on this as if it’s a trend or a bandwagon to join, when it’s reality, a lifestyle, and something that should be normal

exactly ! I really can’t wait to see what will happen next week, next month, next year.
Thanks for stopping by 🙂
Yes 2020 has been mind blowing and not in a good way. And at times the whole influencer thing can be a bit superficial I will never forget when I was in Seattle in the trendiest part of town waiting for a bus and a young African American woman was standing next to me. And this scrawny inbred white male starting yelling at her and calling her the N word. I was shocked, then I got really angry. I thought for like a nano second of pushing him into the street. I was really angry. But then I thought what if he fell and got hit by car. I would go to jail for an extended period of time. Then I thought I will yell at him on the bus where there will a lot of other African Americans, but then I thought, what if that incites a fight of some kind? Then I thought “F it”I will just yell at him. But then I thought: are you doing this just to make yourself feel better? I have hard stressful life so it would have been nice to take it out on someone who deserved it. But then I thought: does she want me to say something? Or no?Would I be embarrassing her further? Would she be mad? I guess you would not describe me as impetuous…

Thank you for sharing your experience Allie, it means a lot.
I think the most important part of it is that you cared and that’s already a lot.
Of course we will never know how that woman felt but I am sure she would have been happy to know that someone there cared.
It is all about timing and maybe now the World is ready for a Change, at least I hope so.
Stay safe 🙂
So beautifully written. We marched in a large BLM protest on Saturday, and even thought I was worried about Covid – I couldn’t stand by anymore and do nothing. I felt it in my heart to march, and it was such a moving experience!

Thanks for sharing Sonia. It’s been interesting seeing how what happened to George Floyd and the follow on of public protests and media attention has helped spark awareness across the globe. Its unfortunate that it has taken what happened to George Floyd in the USA for causes here in Australia (and Im sure other countries) to get a spotlight and social movements to gain momentum.
I also hope the momentum and progress for change continues beyond when it is trendy.

I hope that too 🙂
Thanks for stopping by Deneale, your point of view is truly appreciated.
I really hope this world is starting to change in a better way.
In white and I’m sorry I really struggle to express myself good especially in English.
But I feel so heavy to know you went through racism experiences.
I just can’t understand how some persons think they’re better just because of their skin color.

Thank you Margot for expressing your thoughts, I truly believe change starts with education, as long as we can all do our little part around us, we will get there.
Have a great week 🙂
I am so sorry for how hard everything has been. Thank you for writing this and helping us educate ourselves. I struggled to write about the topic myself because I didn’t want to offend anyone, and I feel so ignorant, but you are right, silence is way worse. I admire your will to fight and not to let anything tear you down, you are so strong, and I need to learn from that.

It’s only together that we can make change happens so don’t be afraid to express yourself as all we need is allies, you don’t have to be perfect, your voice is enough 🙂
thanks for stopping by !!
Beautifully said. Change and awareness is needed and it’s not a trend. I’m ready for the marathon!

I’m sorry you’ve had to put up with so much – it’s not right and it’s not fair. I’m also so sorry that I was ignorant of a lot of what has gone on, not just in America, but here in Australia. I’ve been learning, listening and I’m making changes to be a better person and ally and to make this world a better place for my sons!
Hope you are having a nice week 🙂
Thank you Mica, every action counts !!

It is so important to be mindful of what is going on around us. I agree with you – I’ve seen people saying phrases against BLM. I’m like, your house isn’t on fire right now. We need to continue to educate each other and be proactive about making changes happen. This involves electing the right people to help push it across the region.

I completely agree with you that our social media platforms should be something we use to express how we feel about anything, especially when it’s something as serious as this. Racism is a horrible injustice to say the least and it’s been ignored and pushed under the carpet for far too long. I feel like the world is finally coming together to create a world where everyone can live their lives in love and peace, and I promise to do everything I can as a single human being to keep the change going by getting to learn more and stepping up when I see racism in my environment. Black lives matter and it’s not a trend – it’s justice that we’ve all been waiting for and that we must, and we will, stand together and fight for. <3

Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts Jelena, Change is definitely only going to happen if we all come together.
